Holyhead Port can confirm that the Terminal 5 ferry berth at the port reopened on 16 January as planned and ferry services have resumed. The ferry berths had been closed since 7 December 2024.
While we are relying on one berth for all ferry operations, the ferries will run on an adjusted timetable, and given the situation, we plan to facilitate a full schedule for both ferry operators from Terminal 5 on a temporary basis. If you have a ferry booking to or from Holyhead, please check the timetable with the operator.
We will provide an updated timeline for reopening Terminal 3 as soon as possible.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of all those affected by the closure, and we’d like to thank our teams and stakeholders for their support and cooperation during this challenging time.

Due to severe weather conditions on Friday, 05 December, a berthing incident occurred at Terminal berth 5, which was subsequently closed to allow a full assessment of the structure.
The berth remains closed as severe weather conditions continue to prevent an underwater inspection. We have been informed by diving experts that underwater inspections will be completed early next week. Based on this, we expect structural engineers to provide their recommendations no later than Thursday, 18 December.
Holyhead Port remains open and we continue to operate a full sailing schedule for ferry operators as they share the other fully operational berth.
When we receive the necessary information regarding the safety of the structure we will provide a further update.
